Terence Shannon joined Richmond Vona in 2026 as the firm’s Controller, bringing more than a decade of progressive financial and operational experience across banking, manufacturing, professional sports, and now personal injury law. He focuses on building financial systems and operations that support the firm’s growth while maintaining the personal touch that defines Richmond Vona’s approach to clients.

A native of the Town of Tonawanda, Terence graduated from St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute before earning his degree from Canisius College. He is a CPA who began his career in public accounting at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he developed expertise in auditing and technical accounting. He spent seven years at Columbus McKinnon in various roles, progressing from Senior Accountant to Treasury Manager. That role came unexpectedly when both the Treasurer and Treasury Manager resigned on the same day while he was returning from family vacation. With no previous treasury experience, Terence had to learn quickly, manage a new team, and embrace the unknown. He describes it as one of the most challenging and rewarding periods of his career, and it taught him to approach every role with open-mindedness and a commitment to learning.

Before joining Richmond Vona, he served as Assistant Controller with the Buffalo Sabres, managing financial operations for a professional sports organization. Terence has always been intrigued by the legal field and considered law school when he was younger. Personal injury law and Richmond Vona specifically appealed to him because of the personal touch the firm brings to client relationships. He saw an opportunity to combine his financial expertise, his interest in law, and his commitment to supporting people in one meaningful role.

At Richmond Vona, Terence is focused on ensuring the firm’s financial function is more than a back-office operation. He is committed to providing organization, efficiency, and value internally while delivering a top-notch experience to clients.

Terence is married with two children, a son and a daughter, and two Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers. He spends his free time with family and friends, reading, listening to music, and running agility with his dogs. A lifelong Buffalo resident and huge sports fan, especially of the Bills, Terence brings his same commitment to community and connection to his work at Richmond Vona.
