Our Community involvement
Our Commitment to Community
At Richmond Vona, we believe in the power of community. From Buffalo to Rochester, we support our neighbors in unique ways. We’re dedicated to giving back because we understand that a thriving community is the foundation of a strong society. Our team is engaged with a variety of community partners across Western New York and beyond.
Buffalo is the ‘City of Good Neighbors’, it’s important to us to live up to that title. Buffalo is where our main office is located and where many of our team members call home. Our promise to our community is care, compassion, and respect- this isn’t limited to our clients.
“Our commitment to community involvement goes beyond legal representation. It’s about fostering connections and creating a better tomorrow for us all.”
– John Richmond | Co-Founder & CEO

Monthly Acts of Kindness
Through our Monthly Acts of Kindness program, we strive to support as many worthy causes as possible. Each month, we actively engage in initiatives that make a positive impact on the lives of those around us. Whether it’s sponsoring local events, participating in charity drives, or volunteering our time, we are dedicated to making a difference in our community, especially for those who need it most. We support a variety of organizations through our Monthly Act of Kindness program throughout Western New York and are proud to assist with each organization’s mission.
“Every act of kindness, no matter how small, contributes to the well-being of our community. We’re proud to be a part of positive change.”
– Keith Vona | Co-Founder

Get Involved with Our Community Partners
FeedMore WNY
FeedMore WNY is part of the Feeding America network. Its mission is to offer dignity, hope, and a brighter future by providing nutritious food, friendship, and skills training to our Western New York neighbors in need. With rapidly growing food insecurity in our community, our team has had the opportunity to volunteer as a Monthly Act of Kindness. Food insecurity is an issue that is close to our team’s hearts, as we know how devastating hunger and malnutrition can be.

Buffalo Veterans' Race
Richmond Vona is proud to be the presenting sponsor of the Buffalo Veterans Race, which supports the Buffalo Naval and Military Park and other veteran organizations, two key local Veteran organizations. The Buffalo Naval and Military Park is a non-profit history museum that relies on donations and volunteers. The Veterans One-Stop Center supports veterans and their families and aims to improve their quality of life.
The Veterans Race is an open event to the entire community to celebrate military veterans in November, around Veterans Day each year. The race is a fun day out for the whole family with many options, including a 5K, 10K, walk-a-thon, and kids’ race. Watch John Richmond’s episode of the Angles Podcast, where he sits down with Keith Vona and one of the Race Organizers, Al Longo, below!

Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy
Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy (BOPC) is the steward of Buffalo’s historic Olmsted park and parkway system. BOPC is the first nonprofit organization in the nation to manage and operate an entire historic urban park system, consisting of 850 acres of beautifully designed parks, parkways, and circles. The Olmsted Parks Conservancy has retained full responsibility and maintenance of these green spaces since 2004, when it entered into an agreement with the City of Buffalo and Erie County. One of our Monthly Acts of Kindness was volunteering with BOPC to help keep Delaware Park clean!

Leveling The Playing Field
Leveling the Playing Field (LPF) was founded to address the growing inequity between those who can afford to play sports and those who cannot, and the cost of sporting goods was playing a role in that gap. LPF functions similarly to a food bank for sports equipment, helping support everyone from young kids to our professional sports franchises by making use of the volume of supplies that typically go to waste. As a firm full of proud Bills Mafia fans, Buffalo Sabres, and other sports fans, we deeply feel LPF’s mission. Our team volunteered at LPF WNY as part of our Monthly Act of Kindness program multiple times.

Compeer of Greater Buffalo
Compeer is a non-clinical social service agency that promotes mental wellnesss through the healing power of friendship. Compeer was founded in 1973 in Rochester, NY after a life-changing auto accident. At Richmond Vona, we know how difficult it can be to mentally process trauma, especially after an accident. We are proud to have a great partner like Compeer to help promote mental well-being across our community.
“This collaboration is really important because it demonstrates how different industries can work together to address mental health challenges.”
– Lisa Johnson | Compeer Buffalo

Letters Against Isolation
Letters Against Isolation fights senior loneliness one letter at a time. The Letters Against Isolation community brings seniors together through handwritten messages and improves their mental and physical health nationwide. We have done several Monthly Acts of Kindness with LAI, connecting with nursing homes across New York state.

Family Promise of WNY
FamilyPromise of WNY works with families facing homelessness to provide housing and tailored solutions through a variety of services and programs. Family Promise seeks to build a community that invests in the strength of our families so that every child can have a safe and dignified home. Our team started 2025 by creating hand-tied blankets for families in the shelter and accompanying them to their new homes.

Ronald McDonald House of WNY
Ronald McDonald House helps families have housing nearby while their children are hospitalized. Each year, more than 500 people stay at the Buffalo House located minutes away from major hospitals, including Oishei Children’s Hospital, Erie County Medical Center, and Rosewell Park Cancer Institute. Ronald McDonald House is built on the simple idea that nothing else should matter when a family is focused on their child’s health. Our team volunteered to help prepare meals for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House.

The Sandwich Project: United Way and Buffalo City Mission
Partnering with The Sandwich Project was our August 2025 Monthly Act of Kindness. The project is founded on the idea that making a difference can be as simple as making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. By making sandwiches, we were able to support our neighbors experiencing homelessness. By getting our team together and making over 250 sandwiches, we were able to contribute in a meaningful way. We look forward to doing this again in the future and helping our community.

PARTNERING WITH ORGANIZATIONS
We invite organizations making a difference to reach out to us. We’d love to hear from you if you have a cause that aligns with our values. Together, we can create meaningful collaborations that leave a lasting impact on our community.
Aside from our Monthly Acts of Kindness, we have dedicated community partners across Western New York. Our partnerships are organizations that share our commitments and core values. We believe that success is a shared journey, achieved hand in hand with the strength of our community. We are deeply proud to have built partnerships with local businesses and community organizations alike.

“Collaboration is key to creating lasting change. We welcome organizations to join hands with us in our mission to uplift and empower our community.”
– John Richmond | Co-founder

Community Matters to Us
Beyond legal advocacy, we believe in nurturing a strong sense of community. It’s not just about practicing law; it’s about being a positive force for change, promoting empathy, and creating a brighter future for all. Community is important for connecting with our neighbors, developing our individual selves, and reducing stress and isolation.
“In advocating for our community, we strengthen the fabric of society. Together, we can build a future where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.”
– Keith Vona | Co-Founder
