What if I Was Hit by an Uninsured Driver?
If you’re injured in a car accident and you find out that the other driver had no insurance, there’s still some steps that can be taken to try to get you compensation. So, the first thing that we’ll do is we have to first look at your own insurance policy. If you do not have supplemental or underinsured motorist coverage, sometimes we can pursue a settlement in New York through the Motor Vehicle Accident Indemnification Corporation, which is set up for these types of situations. But we have to first prove that the person who hit you has no insurance, that you have no insurance. There needs to have been a police report filed in a timely manner after the accident, and then we can go through MVAIC to try to get you a settlement. So really, if you’re injured and you find out someone doesn’t have insurance, please still give us a call, ’cause we may still be able to help you.
