Differences between mesothelioma and lung cancer from asbestos exposure
A big difference that we explain to juries with respect to mesothelioma is that the only known cause of mesothelioma is exposure to asbestos fibers.
Whereas, when you go after a lung cancer case, generally speaking, most of the clients have a smoking history because, back in the ’50s, ’60s, and ’70s, most people smoked.
That is a contributing factor that you have to deal with in a lung cancer case that you won’t in a mesothelioma case.
If the person has a strong occupational exposure history, they can still have a very successful case in a lung cancer matter.
