How are truck accidents investigated?

Truck accidents need to be investigated quickly and they need to be taken very seriously on the scene of the accident. It is not uncommon for the trucking company’s insurance company or their investigators to be on scene. They have these response teams that show up. So, they’ll be out there talking to witnesses if they’re there, coordinating with the police, talking to the drivers. They’re out there really quickly, no matter when these accidents happen. So, the quicker that we’re called, the quicker we can get our investigators, get our first response team out. Our response team is made up of former state troopers, sheriffs, people who investigated these scenes for a living prior to going into private investigatory practice.

You need to look very closely at these cases cuz they typically involve very serious injuries. So, we need to preserve all the evidence, meaning preserve the tractor trailer, preserve its blackbox data, preserve the cameras that they typically have on them. We need to preserve their driver logs. We also need to preserve our clients vehicle information. We need to talk to witnesses. We need to collect statements and see if perhaps there’s video surveillance footage in the area. These investigations need to be taken extremely seriously again because they typically involve very serious injuries, if not death. So investigations need to be taken seriously and conducted by a team that has a lot of experience in them.
