Worker Critically Injured After Getting Pinned by Vehicle at Golden Touch Car Wash

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK (January 22, 2026) – A 27-year-old man was critically injured in a workplace car accident at the Golden Touch Car Wash in Brooklyn on Fourth Avenue.
New York City officials are saying that the accident took place around 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday. A 37-year-old employee at Golden Touch Car Wash was attempting to park a Toyota Sienna.
That worker accidentally pushed the accelerator pedal before hitting his 27-year-old coworker. Apparently, the worker may have lept from the vehicle prior to the collision.
The Toyota Sienna then struck a Toyota Prius, which then hit a 2019 Ford bus. Paramedics were called to the scene of the accident to help the victim.
The injured worker was transported to Maimonides Medical Center with critical injuries.
Liability for Brooklyn Car Accidents
Employers in the United States have a legal obligation to maintain their premises in a reasonably safe condition. According to 29 U.S.C. § 654(a)(1), “each employer shall furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which are free from recognized hazards that are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his employees.” Employers should take several actions to prevent workers from being injured by motor vehicles at car washes and service centers.
- Engine Off Policy: Vehicles must be shut off before any employee should be allowed to walk behind or in front of the vehicle.
- Physical Barriers: Businesses should use physical barriers and engineering controls to prevent errant vehicles from striking workers. This may include the use of wheel locks and bollard posts.
- Training: Workers should be trained to identify and avoid hazardous conditions at their job sites.
- Communication: Workers in the auto service industry must remain in constant communication with one another. This helps remove ambiguity about what one person’s intentions may be.
When a worker is injured in Illinois, they will typically have recourse through the workers’ compensation system. This is a no-fault insurance scheme designed to help injured workers or their surviving family members. Depending on the facts of any case, there could be numerous sources of third-party liability for a workplace accident. A third-party liability claim may be possible if an entity separate from a worker’s employer contributed to a crash. Sources of third-party liability may include the company that manufactured a vehicle.
Steps to Take After Brooklyn Workplace Car Accidents
Car accidents are a leading cause of preventable injury and death for workers in the United States. According to the National Safety Council, “Injuries resulting from roadway incidents involving motorized land vehicles is the leading cause of work-related deaths. In 2023, 1,252 workers died and in 2021-2022, 68,560 DART cases including 54,830 DAFW cases were reported.” It is important that certain actions be taken after any worker is injured in a car accident.
- Medical Treatment: Workers should seek medical treatment as early as possible and inform their doctors that they were injured during the course of their job duties.
- Follow-Up Care: Workers should continue to seek follow-up care and rehabilitation for their injuries. Failing to seek any required follow-up care can cause medical and legal complications down the road.
- Police Report: The police report for the accident should be sought and carefully reviewed. These reports can be incredibly helpful for a variety of purposes.
- Injury Attorney: Any person injured in a workplace accident should retain an experienced personal injury attorney early on. There are no upfront costs associated with hiring an attorney, and they can ensure that the rights of victims are being protected.
Being injured in a car accident is often one of the most difficult and painful experiences that most people will ever go through in their lives.
